2023-24 Know the Score Wellness Program
SMHA is proud to announce an enhanced Know the Score (KTS) Wellness Program for 2023-24.
The Know the Score Drug & Alcohol Awareness Program was established by SMHA in 2000-2001 around the areas of alcohol, drugs and tobacco education.
The new KTS Program has evolved to become a Wellness Resource Program designed to provide resources in several areas that encompass wellness for youth. Coaches and managers should not feel that they have to have all the answers when it comes to off-ice issues and concerns that may arise over the course of a season when managing minor hockey teams.
SMHA's KTS Wellness Committee, Chaired by Mike Gawley, has worked to source out caring community professionals who are pleased to assist SMHA's players and their families. We cannot thank these people enough.
A key component of the success of this program will be having a "Point Person" or persons on each team in the U13-U18 age divisions. The people stepping up to assist in this role are being called Wellness Champions for their respective teams. We have asked that the people filling the Wellness Champions role be a parent or parents from the team that are not the Team Manager or not on the Team Coaching Staff. Teams can have one or two Wellness Champions -whatever they prefer.
We thank all of these people in advance for helping out!
Team Wellness Champions are asked to register so we have a list of the Wellness Champions for each team.
