2026 SMHA Nominating Committee Report

The SMHA AGM on April 16, 2026 will mark the expiration of six Director terms.

 The open call for Director nominations to the SMHA Nominating Committee closed on March 1, 2026.  At the close of nominations, the Nominating Committee had received six applications for a Director position on the Board.  

On behalf of the current Board of Directors & staff, thank you to the Directors that are leaving the Board and SMHA is pleased to introduce the six incoming Directors for the 2026-2027 SMHA Board of Directors.

 Outgoing Director Positions:

1. Jim Walters (President)
2. Kevin McNarland (1st Vice President)
3. Camille Barzeele (Chairperson – U7)
4. Alan Bohle (Chairperson – U9)
5. Tony Bairos (Chairperson – AA)
6. Sarah MacNaught (Chairperson – A, B, C Hockey)

 Incoming Directors:

1. President – Jim Walters                                                                2-year term
2. 1^st Vice President - Perry Meier                                                   2-year term
3. Chairperson – U7 – Camille Barzeele                                         2-year term
4. Chairperson – U9 – Alan Bohle                                                   2-year term
5. Chairperson – AA – Tony Bairos                                                2-year term
6. Chairperson – A, B, C – Aaron Scrobe                                       2-year term

Through the efforts of the Nominating Committee, the six individuals listed above have been identified as excellent candidates to assume a Director roles at the conclusion of the 2026 AGM. There will be a motion introduced at the April 16th AGM for the members to ratify the incoming Directors.

Thank you to Kevin McNarland, Sarah MacNaught and to Rick Reimer for their outstanding service to the SMHA Board of Directors and to hockey in Saskatoon and area. 

Finally, thank you to the Nominating Committee, Chaired by Rick Reimer (Past President) which operates at arms-length to the Board and without direct Board involvement. The committee has done an outstanding job in receiving all applications and vetting the potential candidates.
