The SMHA Zone Commissioners worked through the fall and winter of 2022-23 to review the SMHA zone boundaries with a view to create more balance in registration numbers amongst the six geographic zones. Thank you to them for their time and energy on this review project. The Zone Commissioners presented their zoning recommendations to the full SMHA Board of Directors in January 2023 and the revisions listed below were approved in February 2023 by the SMHA Board.
Below are the approved zoning changes in effect for the 2023-24 season:
Grosvenor Park neighborhood becomes part of Redwings Zone;
Greystone Heights neighborhood becomes part of the Redwings Zone;
Sutherland neighborhood becomes part of the Redwings Zone
Sutherland Industrial area becomes part of the Redwings Zone
Nutana Park neighborhood becomes part of the Flyers Zone
Buena Vista neighborhood becomes part of the Aces Zone
Westview neighborhood becomes part of the Renegades Zone
** SMHA players in their 17-year-old season of minor hockey residing in one of the neighborhoods listed above will have the option to move into their new zone for the 2023-24 season or to stay in their 2022-23 zone for their final season of minor hockey eligibility.
