About Us

Saskatoon Minor Hockey Association

The Saskatoon Minor Hockey Association (SMHA) offers a variety of hockey programs for children and youth from five to 20 years of age.

  • The SMHA consists of six geographic hockey zones which are used for player registration and team competition. The six zones are: Saskatoon Aces, Saskatoon Bobcats, Saskatoon Flyers, Saskatoon Redwings, Saskatoon Renegades and Saskatoon Wild. The SMHA also has two city-wide hockey zones - the Saskatoon & District Female Comets for female hockey programs and the Greater Saskatoon Hockey League (GSHL) for AA Tier 1 Peewee, Bantam and Midget programs.

  • The SMHA is the governing body for all Hockey Canada and Saskatchewan Hockey Association (SHA ) sanctioned minor hockey teams in the City of Saskatoon, which includes the City Wide GSHL Tier I Peewee and Midget Leagues, the GSHL Bantam Tier 1 teams that play in the SBAAHL, the Saskatoon & District Female Comets, the Midget AAA Female Stars, the Midget AAA Blazers and the Midget AAA Contacts.

  • The SMHA also governs the SMHA Junior C Hockey League (established in 2011) for 18-20 year old players (1993-1995 birth years for the 2013-14 season).

  • The SMHA operates through a 19-member Board of Directors.  The SMHA employs four staff members during the hockey season.

  • For more information on hockey in your area, please contact your Zone Executive or the SMHA office. We hope you will feel free to contact us with any suggestions or concerns about the information provided on this web site.
